The Uplanders Club Charitable Organization is committed to providing assistance and support to local charities in our community
Each year in May the Uplanders Club Charitable Organization (UCCO) solicits applications from local nonprofits for review and selection of its annual "Charity-of-Choice". This charity is selected from the applicants through a competitive process based on their service to the community, resource needs, and other important factors.
In May of the following year the selected charity receives a donation of funds from various fundraising events held from September through March of the previous year.
A Lot of Good, Inc. There Is Hope Project has been selected as our Charity of Choice for 2024-2025.
The mission of A Lot of Good is to assist families dealing with a health or family crisis, with access to basic essentials that, because of their circumstances, are unaffordable.
A Lot of Good is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that includes both programs providing help to families in crisis due to health issues and without adequate financial resources, and a Thrift Shop.
The Thrift Shop is located in Upland on the corner of Foothill Blvd and Central Avenue. The store is large and well organized, with an amazing stock of items meeting many family needs. Income from the Thrift Shop, coupled with other donations, is used to fund the programs serving families in crisis.
Sandy Cappelli is the Founder and Executive Director of A Lot of Good, and her husband Tony is responsible for marketing through his company, HighPointe Productions and Marketing. In 2002, Sandy and Tony founded Steven's Hope, a nonprofit named after their son, who lived just 32 hours after birth due to a congenital heart disease. That charity provided temporary housing, essential needs and financial support to families with seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. In 2017, A Lot of Good was created to extend services to families in crisis due to health issues and without adequate financial resources.
UCCO's 2024-2025 fundraising will directly support the "There Is Hope" project that provides selected families with monthly support including gift cards for groceries, gas, Target/Walmart, and vouchers to shop at the A Lot of Good Thrift Store. After one year, a family can apply for an additional year of support.
